Welcome!

Skanke is an old family from Hov in Hackås in Jämtland.

The family has several name forms: Skanke, Skancke, Skunke,

Skunck, Skunk, Hoflin, Bromeé and others.

Since Jämtland before 1645 was part of Norway,

branches of the family have moved to the area of Röros

Norway and other parts of Norway.

The family is surviving in Norway and Sweden with the main

branch still living in Jämtland around the city of Östersund.

In the 14th century, the family was considered to belong

to the knight class.
